EYOC 2022 to begin in Hungary

We’ve hardly lowered the flags at the World Orienteering Championships in Denmark, but Saturday it’s time to raise them again, when the European Youth Orienteering Championships 2022 begin in Hungary.

Around 400 athletes from 34 different nations will travel to Salgótarján in Northern Hungary to compete in three disciplines: Long, Sprint and Relay from Saturday through Monday.

At the EYOC, the athletes compete in four classes, W16, W18, M16 and M18. The nations can enter four athletes and one relay team in each class.

A fairly hilly and rocky terrain awaits in the forest distances, whereas the sprint is held in hilly urban terrain.

The area bears the mark of the widespread, now closed mining industry in the 20thcentury around Salgótarján, which has around 35.000 inhabitants.

The competitions at EYOC can be followedat IOF LIVE:with live results, GPS-results and speaker audio.
